During FY2017, DBHDS reported the highest number of deaths in state mental hospitals since 2012, with many deaths occurred shortly after admission.
Southwestern Virginia Training Center Closes
Southwestern Virginia Training Center (SWVTC), a state-operated institution for people with intellectual disabilities, is officially closed. The last resident left the institution in Hillsville on August 21st.
