Deadliest Year at State Mental Health Facilities

Virginia Code § 37.2-709 and § 37.2-304 requires DBHDS to report critical incidents and deaths to dLCV.  During FY2017, DBHDS reported the highest number of deaths in state mental hospitals since 2012, with many deaths occurred shortly after admission.  Read dLCV’s analysis and report to DBHDS, and the Commissioner’s response below!
