Disability Rights Attorney
The disAbility Law Center of Virginia (dLCV) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Staff Attorney to advocate on behalf of children and adults with disabilities. The disAbility Law Center of Virginia is the state’s designated protection and advocacy system. Our mission is to protect and advance legal, human, and civil rights of persons with disabilities; combat and prevent abuse, neglect, and discrimination; and promote independence, choice, and self-determination by persons with disabilities. Duties for this position may include developing and leading systemic disability rights reform efforts, individual representation of clients in formal and informal legal and administrative proceedings, providing conflict resolution, mediation and other intervention strategies, monitoring and investigating instances of abuse, neglect or exploitation, assisting with outreach and training on disability rights issues, providing technical assistance and short term legal assistance, supervising non-attorney staff, and other duties as needed.
