2022 disAbility Rights and Resources Virtual Summit
On September 22, 2022, the disAbility Law Center of Virginia hosted its annual disAbility Rights and Resources Summit. This year’s summit took participants on a journey of disability through the ages, with sessions tracks focused on childhood, transition, adulthood, elder, and systemic experiences. Claire Stanley, policy specialist at the National Disability Rights Network, and Colleen Miller, Director of the disAbility Law Center of Virginia, will share their insights about the future of disability justice and learn your thoughts and hopes for the future.

Coming of Age: The Musical! So many changes occur when a child becomes an adult at age 18. We will take a look at some of these changes and talk about how to be prepared for this milestone.

Medicaid waiver services and/or SSI benefits in place in childhood require specific actions to ensure they continue when the individual turns 18. Rules also change at 18, enabling access to SSI that was not available in childhood. Learn what steps you can take to make sure there is a smooth transition and that vital supports begin or remain in place.
